SalvageThe combination Mammoet-Hebo, was awarded the contract to remove the two cranes and pontoons, which tipped over on the 3rd of August 2015, while lifting a bridge section of 187 Tons. That went horribly wrong.

Utmost care is now taken to prepare a detailed plan to safely remove the two cranes and boom sections.

Below a summary of the plans as well as some Preliminary Incident Analysis. The Industry is awaiting  the official investigation report, which  the cause(s) of this unfortunate incident.

The video shows how little of the wreckage is above the water now that the ship has been righted. In the video, as the drone flies around the starboard side of the vessel (nearest the land), it shows the damage and discoloration caused when the ship rested on that side underwater for more than a year.

The Crane Accident is Likely due to Operator Error caused by weight shifting from a submerged load. The Crane Operator is able to jump out before the fall. It appears to be Mobile Telescopic Boom Truck Crane.

ABB Lumut Power Station, Malaysia

A video documentary of the shipment, barging, land transport and installation of heavy components for the Lumut Power Station at the West coast of Malaysia, North of the city of Lumut. A beach jetty was constructed to land all the heavy pieces near the Power Station, in order to avoid all obstacles (bridges, overhead wires, culverts etc.) en route from the commercial port of Lumut. All work was performed for ABB-Baden, Switzerland.
