The Frankfurt Seminar on the 25th + 26th of June 2010 was the last Seminar this summer. It concludes a total of 45 Seminars, which I presented since May 2008. A total of 1017 participants have attended my Seminars. I realize that I can only present the basic principles of moving and lifting heavy loads  in this two day course and have therefore limited my Seminars to lifting and transportation of heavy loads on land.

Hello Richard,
Thank you for the information, and off course the cert; it was a very good seminar and I enjoyed all parts, both seminar and social, from last weekend.

Unfortunately I have forgotten the DVD; perhaps I left it somewhere on the table; is it possible that you send me a copy as I consider it a valuable part for my job ?

Best regards,
Met vriendelijke groet,

Good afternoon Richard,
First of all I would like to thank you again and to congratulate you on the Seminar attended last week in Frankfurt; I’ve found it really interesting.
I’ve been also the lucky one that won the I-Pad and for sure I was happy about it!
By the way, I’ve just checked into your website and I saw few pictures about the Seminar in Frankfurt but I didn’t find out the answers of the “Multiple Choice Test and Evaluation”; can you please let me know where I can get them? When do you think to be able to send the results and the “Certificate of Attendance”?

Thank you in advance and I hope to hear from you soon.

I missed some chapters related to the heavy lift ocean transportation. i.e.. loading on H/L vessels, lashing procedures, securing etc. …..barges, ocean towing

————–

A few more breaks required, a bit more exercises for each individual, suggest only weekdays used. Would like info about securing of strength of beams used for weights spread

————–

Regarding the information provided, it should last at least another morning, or couple of hours extra every day. Apart from this, I found it very interesting

————–

“One foto often explains more then 100 words” However, in my opinion we spent too much time in day one on videos, some of them being too long. But keep the videos, but with with more “cuts”

————–

- I suggest you develop further continuation seminar, which will handle in deep the various subjects

- a lot of slides in the book are vey small and almost nor readable

————–

Richard, very informative during both of the days, could be a bit more detailed. I can recommend your course to anybody who works  with heavy cargo

————–

Include more marine lifting, including ship stability

————-

Could recommend to have more abt.  load out/in with ships cranes, also lashing and securing

————-

Maybe slit the Seminar in two parts: Transport and Lifting. Then you can get more in detail

————-

Split the course in 2 days to have more attention for detail. Last half day is now super rush and not satisfying

————-

Thanking you Richard, looking forward to offshore course

————-

For beginners, a more detailed course covering the nuts and bolts of  business over 3-4 days

————-

Richard, if you separate the Transport in one day and next day only for lifting matters, that would be more helpfull

————-

An excellent presentation. The technical content was simplified, easily understood and made practical for site applications

————-

Maybe shorten the 2nd day by one hour
As above better quality photos & film would be good.

————–

First presentation cpuld be more technical
—————-

Local standards should be noted

—————

Very interesting! Covered all relevant topics in an engaging environment

—————

More Industry personnel should attend courses like this as the issues covered are invaluable to all in Construction

————–

Very informative sessions & course. It should be implemented as part of a training program for the Construction Industry

—————–

Pictures & Writing etc. in the Hand-out could be a bit clearer

—————-

Very good. Might pay to stick to firm times for breaks. QHSE Section was not relevant

—————

Consider running more technical courses for experienced technical personnel. Less time on HSE, we do these things every day at work

—————-

Get rid of or shorten the Safety lecture to max. 30 minutes

—————–

- Possibly focus on either lifting or transport for more specialized information.
- Less time required for Safety & Risk management
- Allows more time to focus on specific Lifting / Transport topics.

—————-

Found the course very informative, I learnt a lot. Very Good!!! Could probably not do the Safety & Rick assessment section, as the majority of persons attending all work for major companies that have well developed systems.

—————-

More on Lifting

————–

Dear Richard,
The seminar you had conducted really gave me a better understanding on heavy lifting works. I have learned a lot and sincerely wishes to Thank You for sharing your knowledge and experiences through it. And I will definitely recommended the seminar to my colleagues.
Hope to meet you again when opportunity arise.

—————

Some of the sheets in the  Hand-outs (especially the tables) have small  letters and should be printed out on 1 Page A4 instead of 2 slides on one page.

—————

Since you are in Singapore I suggest you do customer specific Seminras e.g.:  A)Hydraulic Trailers/ SPMT’s specifically only for road transportation, B) Skidding & Jacking only for shipyards,  C) Safety & Accidents strictlly for Safety & Health Officers. All one day Seminars. That will maximize your Seminar attendance.
Kelvin Ho, Intercontinental Logistics Pte. Ltd.

—————–

Overall good content – Instructor was able to be technical enough for the informed, while still including the un-informed

—————–

Even though this is my daily work, it was very interesting and I still learned a lot of things. Very useful and nice the course exists.

————–

As some of the sections were briefly gone through I would like to be in details by those calculations

————–

A 3-Day Seminar seems suitable for the topics. More time needed where calculations are required. Stowage planning and lashing points on trailer and barge loading for Multiple cargo

—————

Dear Richard,
In all honesty, I personally find your seminar very fruitful and I must thank you for your unselfishness in sharing with your participants on your vast experience in heavy lift. Your handout and those videos are very interesting and more importantly, it can still happen in today real world despite technology are in their advancement.
I noted during the seminar in some of your slides, there are motions like the tipping of the trailer (under chapter 3, slide no. 16), Rules on Trailer Stability needed or not (chapter 11, slide no. 12) & the slides no 19 also under chapter 11 where you shown 4 slides leading to the transformer tipping over the barge. Are these in the DVD you had handed out? If not, can you send me in soft copy version for my record and I can assure you it will not reproduce nor copy or given to anybody with 1st seeking your permission.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Richard,

I would like to thank you so much for the past 2 days which you had unselfishly shared your years of experience and knowledge during the 2 days Intensive Heavy Transport and Lifting Course.

I told my colleagues what happened during the course and what we learnt and also about the exam on the final day and lso certificates will be issued.

This surprise them because the word “Seminar” in Singapore means a low cost event of about $70 per pax and often attended by a large audience of about 100 people, with no coursework, no exam and no certificate but just listening to the talk. This was the main reason why they refrain from attending a 2 day “seminar” which cost $1,800.

Ihope that you will consider to change the course title to “Advanced Heavy Transport and Lifting Course” which I think will be more appropriate and may help to boost up the esteem of this wonderful course.

Hello Richard,
It was a pleasure meeting you and attending your seminar, which I found very interesting and well presented.  I particularly enjoyed the stories and case studies.  And also I anticipate seeing how I did on the test (I am afraid to find out, I had to rush to catch a plane!  Hopefully I passed…)
Thanks again, maybe I could visit you at Jumbo on my next trip over to Europe?

Great Course and very informative. Would recommend that all members of my office take the course

————-

More time on calcs. Faster on planning + Safety. We get safety elswhere

Should do a Seminar every month in different countries

————–

Richard’s experience is impressive. Stories are relevant and well presented. Case studies are valuable.

————–

Good for anyone who want to properly use his heavy lift equipment within the design limits following safety guidelines

————–

Very comprehensive course, giving  a good overviewe of the subject. 37 years of experience in the Seminar!
Thanks,
Anton

—————

Better time management needed!!

Dear Richard

Copy of the certificate well received. Thank you.

I should say that the two day session which you conducted in Dubai was wonderful and all of my colleagues who attended the course benefited to a large extent. This will definitely enable us to improve our working standards and bring a fresh outlook to the surveys we carry out on heavy lifts on a regular basis.

Once again thank you very much for your time and effort and hope and pray that you are able to maintain the same enthusiasm and health to carry this forward for many more years to come.

Looking forward to seeing you some time.

Best Regards,

I have indeed learned a lot from your seminar.
I am not daunted by this result and in fact, reviewing your notes again at my pace.
In an earlier discussion, you spoke about having participated in building of temporary jetty for roll out/ in purpose. I spoke with my Australian colleague on your expertise.
There could be a possibility where your expertise required. However, would you be in position to sign a non-disclosure agreement if you are appointed?
If you are back in Singapore, we could definitely catch up.

It was our pleasure to have you here.
First Thank you for sharing you knowledge and wisdom with our employees. And I am glad to let you know that the feedback we got was excellent. All the employees, liked your way of presenting, and the practical examples you provided during the course.
Also, I would like to thank you for your quick action in providing us the certificates.

In regards to the marks, I believe that the course was a bit heavy on them, specially it was all in two days. But I think if we repeated the course again in the near future, it will sink in better.

I will forward the e-mail to the attendees, to get the chance in accessing the link you provided.

Thank you again, and you will hear from us in the future.

Excellent course for anybody associated with Heavy Lifts. I have learned from  a  highly experienced instructor with in depth knowledge of the subject and wish that the course duration could be more to get the maximum benefit. Well done & thanks.

Overall comment about this Seminar is excellent

————–

Nice, nothing to add

————–

Can we have another / advanced Seminar

————–

This Seminar is very good, we get to learn many things by theory. If we have practical equipment that is also very nice for us

————–

Tools need to be added, which is important to learn more

————–

I have no comment for the Seminar. Actually for me it was excellent & good!!

————–

Overall the course is excellent

————–

Either the course duration should be increased or the contents of the course should be reduced

————–

Share your presentations with others

————–

Skidding & jacking part should be in detail with more videos

————–

Safety and Risk Management is one of the most important topics of this Seminar. Increase its priority in the Seminar sequence. (I.e. as first chapter)

————–

You should give more time for the test! Your explanations takes a lot time more than the time available to do the calculations

————-

You caspan style=”font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;”/pn use the Seminar to help us later on by arranging to sell the books of Heavy Lift, through even mail but you know the source of the book and we may find it hard to search for

————-

I cannot make any suggestion anymore, because what I experienced in this seminar is all I had experienced in actual job and some additional knowledge I got

————-

For the future: Instead of 2 days plan to extend to 3 or even 4 days at  least. We can learn a lot more information

————-

Good presentation and insight into Heavy Transsportation

————-

Richard was a great instructor. I would enjoy learning more!!

————-

Most of the information provided is not easily available in books. Practical experience with documentation is an excellent combination. We could do more for our customers in the Middle East.

Raj Bhada

————–

Very good presentation, very informative. This organization should work with concerned groups to bring rules and regulation for safe working by insisting on inspection & testing followed by safe working practice

—————

Overall an excellent Seminar. Thank You.
Albert Buerkli,
KOG Transport

—————-

Where participants are to calculate or draw something from the whiteboard, it would help to have more blank pages in the hand-out to write notes in the correct pages. Otherwise excellently organized

—————-

A well spoken man with a vast quantity of experience passing on the knowledge, using examples from his career. Well worth the two days

————–

It is best information to anybody who is involved in Heavy lifting business. I enjoyed the program and I suggest to add more heavy lift projects and heavy lift equipment with full safety and PPE presentation. (Safety no compromize)

————-

I would like to have your Seminar for more then 2 days

————-

Good, Informative, Interactive Seminar. Very useful for all kind of personnel, viz. top management, middle management, lower management or operational personnel. Good supported with examples. Suggestions:  The Seminar should be extended from 2 days Seminar into 3 days: Day 1: Transportation; Day 2 : Erection, Day 3: Project planning. Miscellaneous, Accidents

————-

1) Two days of Seminar on Heavy Lifting is too short for such a vast subject

2) Need more classification and clarification

————-

A nice Seminar from a highly experienced person. Thank you Richard

————-

Two days is not enough for such an extensive Seminar

————-

It was a very beneficial Seminar, giving important info, experience and giving a lot of commentary and solutions. Congratulations it is a very successful Seminar

————-

Maybe Friday was not the best day in the Middle East

————-

It would be good to allow another half day to leave more time for discussion/particular questions, especially when you have a multi- discipline crowd who each have their own technical interests….

————–

Same subjects could be treated in three days, more time—– and spend more time on Heavy lifting issues

————–

More Technical data, information and time for heavy lifting arguments

————–

Spend more time on heavy lifting, one more day would have been better to see the second part of the Seminar a little bit slower

————–

It is very helpful for all people who are working in the heavy lift Industry. It is very helpful information for me to learn something more about in this field

————–

Good and informative Seminar. Though concentrated & focused for people in the heavy lift industry, certain aspects were useful from a point of view of Risk Managers and Accessors & Surveyors. A good Seminar overall: “RECOMMENDED”

————–

Found the Seminar very informative and useful

————–

To have individual Seminars   for each subject, so we have longer time

————–

Thank you first! I suggest this can be more detailed and that can be done by dividing the people  between the ones interested in general knowledge and  those who are interested in more detailed engineering approach. The way &  topics  discussed were excellent, but we are looking at more engineering details

—————

If some more industry experts are  involved it would be nice to know about their experience and their point of view

————–

More info on jacking and skidding techniques

————–

If time would allow, it would me nice to get the audience involved in a case study, possib
